A Day at the Zoo

We recently took a trip to the zoo to see the new wombat exhibit.  Unfortunately, he did not cooperate and all we got to see was his furry backside.  I have to admit that seeing all of those animals in their small areas is depressing but the boys had a good time.

Twilight Party

Last night was the Twilight Party and I had a blast!  Thank you Alexis!!  She really out did herself, the decorations were great and the food was beautiful.  We played Twilight Jeopardy and watched the movie.  She even made a poster cutout so we could all be Bella with Edward.  I could not stop laughing watching everyone take their turn, especially Rebecca.  Rebecca is a Jacob fan and her looks were priceless.  I am sure Alexis will post some pictures on her blog hopefully, she will post one of Rebecca looking disgusted with Edward.  We even got T-shirts as party favors, it was a great night.  I can not wait to see what she does for the New Moon DVD release! ;)

Paint it blue, tan, blue....

Well, I finally got the boys' room painted.  Ethan's went from blue to tan and Gavin's from yellow to blue.  It probably would have been easier to just move the furniture but I do not do anything the easy way.  We went back and forth between rooms putting a coat on one room then moving to the other and back again.  Ethan wanted an army man room and Gavin wanted a Star Wars room.  I still have a lot of things to do in each room but even if I decide to quit, which is likely, they are both really happy with the way they are now.  My dad went to the army surplus store on post and bought the camo netting for E's room.  We just tacked it up to the walls and ceiling to create a draped canopy.  My father really liked it and said it looked like a GI put it up because it was not 'perfect'.  He thought it was a great boys room and loved the military theme, he will really like it once the fathead helicopter gets hung on the wall, after all, he is a retired pilot.  Gavin loves blue and wanted his room to be Star Wars.  I hung up their light sabers and put up an Attack of the Clones movie poster, a Boba Fett fathead will be put up later.  I am looking for a black valance to hang over his windows and I am still going to hang white christmas lights around the ceiling.  My husband thinks I am insane to hang christmas lights but I know the boys will love it and that is what matters.  That is the great thing about kids, they do not care if things are not perfect or that they are completely cheesy, they are still happy.  Which is a blessing considering our budget and my lack of talent! Ha

It is hard to get a picture of the canopy, it covers the top part of the bed so if you lay down on the pillows you are looking up into the canopy.

March Madness

Snow!!!  The boys were so excited they have been wanting to play in snow.  I told them it probably would not happen since we live in Alabama and we do not get snow very often, but here it is!  Unfortunately, I had to work and missed all of the fun.  They had snow ball fights and built a small snowman.  By the time I got home the snow was only in the shady areas and the boys were tired.  I was feeling horribly sorry for myself when I got home...Gavin was sound asleep, Ethan was playing at the neighbors house, and Danny was in the shower.  As you may have just figured out there was a silver lining after all!  I ran to the back deck grabbed up a huge pile of loose snow and ran straight to the bathroom.  Danny had just turned off the shower when I opened the door and covered him with the cold snow!!!  Yay, I got to have my fun......but I paid for it dearly when he caught up to me and proceeded to shove handfuls of snow down my shirt!  You just gotta love snow!!
